Stainless Steel Turbo Heat Shield. Designed to replace the factory turbo heat shield, the Cobb Stainless Steel replacement is an ideal replacement particularly when installing aftermarket downpipes. The factory turbo heat shield does not fit when installing most bellmouth or divorced downpipe designs without trimming. The Cobb SS Heat Shield is specifically designed to retain the function of the factory heat shield while still fitting over all aftermarket downpipe designs.

Running without a turbo heat shield can increase underhood temperatures and unnecessarily heat your intercooler. We highly recommend you either trim your factory shield (free) or purchase our shield rather than running with no heat shield at all.

Up Pipe for the Legacy GT Turbo. The PERRIN Performance™ up-pipe is fully constructed of mandrel bent stainless steel. We have chosen to move beyond 304 to 321 stainless for its high strength rating under extreme temperatures and resistance to weld failures. The up-pipe is one of the hottest components of the exhaust system and 321 stainless will ensure the extra longevity of your up-pipe. The PERRIN 1/2" flange design prevents warping at high temperatures and insures a leak free seal.

The proper inside diameter of 1.62 inches is critical. Pre-turbo exhaust velocity is critical to boost response. Improperly oversized header and up-pipe systems lower exhaust velocities slowing spool up for larger turbos decreasing power and increasing boost lag.

Exhaust Down Pipe

Downpipe for Legacy GT and Outback XT. Significantly reduce turbo lag with the Cobb truly engineered downpipe. Designed for optimal performance and durability, their downpipe features full 304 Stainless Steel construction. Starting from the turbo, exhaust gasses enter a cast stainless steel bell-mouth housing that utilizes internal shapes and features impossible to create with standard tubing. This design feature was chosen specifically to reduce turbo lag, improve low-end torque, and offer superior durability in high HP, high temperature uses. Another improvement realized is the reduction of exhaust noise entering the cabin common with the thin-walled tubing used in nearly all other down-pipes on the market.

This system replaces both the stock downpipe section and final catalytic converter section. They will mate up perfectly to the stock or any aftermarket cat-back system designed to attach to the factory donut style flex gasket. A bung necessary to use the second factory O2 sensor is included. In addition, an auxiliary O2 sensor bung is located near the turbo in a position that's easy-to-reach from the engine compartment for wide-band O2 sensor use during tuning sessions.

Down pipe for Legacy GT Turbo 5-speed. The PERRIN™ down pipe is constructed of mirror polished, 304 stainless steel and designed for maximum horsepower. To increase exhaust velocity all piping is made of mandrel bent, 3" diameter stainless steel piping. Bends are minimized throughout the entire length of the down pipe smoothing exhaust flow.

The PERRIN™ down pipe redirects waste gate gases with a deflector that reaches into the back of the turbo. The waste gate gases are directed into a divorced exhaust pipe where they can merge smoothly with the post turbine exhaust gases further down stream.
